Shade sails (a.k.a. sun sails) are the economical way to cover large areas like patios, walkways, pools, playgrounds, etc. We've constructed them over areas bigger than football fields!
This is due to large clearspan capability, thus fewer columns. Unlike shade canopies, shade sail structures don't have upper frames. They merely comprise fabric, steel columns, and attachment hardware. This yields maximim flexibility when locating columns.
.JPG) Yeah, but the real reason they're so popular is they're BEAUTIFUL! Just look at those curves!
But, don't let their good looks fool you. They're tough! They have to be to withstand the tremendous load they're subjected to in high wind. Steel cables inside perimeter hems keep them drum-tight and prevent vibration and whistling.
Shade sail structures enable maximum flexibility for unique, custom designs. Fabrics can be any polygon shape (e.g. triangles, squares, rectangles, etc.). Structures can have multiple sails of differing shapes and colors. They can be overlapped. Visual interest is enhanced when we attach corners at different elevations.

But the real "wow" happens when individual fabrics have four or more sides with adjacent corners attached at different elevations. This shapes individual sails into three dimensions, known as tensile architecture. Yes, we're talking about those hyperbolic curves we supposedly learned in high school geometry.
