Shade Sails Cover California Park Playground

Playground Shade Sails
Why a playground shade sails cover?  Because, "Thanks for giving back our playground" is  neighborhood moms told us while we constructed this shade sail structure on the playground at Northgate Park in Sacramento, California.

We also heard, "Wow, that is really cool."  They probably meant that they liked the looks, but this tensioned fabric shade structure also lowers air temperature up to 20 degrees.

This is why City of Sacramento contracted us to provide this shade sail structure.  Their play structure would get so hot that kids could not use the playground.  Moms did not enjoy waiting around either.

It is big!  Playground Shade Sails

See the photo to the right?  See the man standing under the center column?  He's over 6 feet tall; the column is 28'-6" tall. He ate Wheaties that morning because the center column weighs 1,800 pounds and has a diameter of  16".  Yes, he is very strong.

The concrete pier footing for that center column is 36" diameter and 13 feet deep.  No shade contractor fell in or is in-tombed.

This playground cover comprises 5 triangular shade sails totaling 2,500 square feet.  The 6 perimeter columns are 14 feet tall and have diameters of 12.75"

Playground Shade SailsWe think future archeologists (perhaps in the Year 4735 AD) will discover these footings and conclude they supported a holy structure once worshipped by a 21st century civilization in this Northern California community.
