IBM Corporation chose architectural shade umbrellas to cool the patios at their R&D facility in San Jose, CA. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No wonder.  It gets very hot at this NorCAL facility.  These 20' diameter architectural shade umbrellas significantly drop air temperatures.  Remaining permanently open, they withstand wind up to 85 MPH.
